Stephen Kerr MP has hailed news that Scottish Tech start-ups have increased by 77% year on year, after an announcement that a total of 440 “Tech” businesses were incorporated in Scotland in 2017, up from 249 in 2016.
Tech companies work on IT-based business such as software development and programming, both of which have seen huge increases in demand from countries like China.
Stephen Kerr MP said: “This is excellent news for our Tech industry, both in Scotland and here in Stirling. It’s the result of the creation of a pro-business climate by the UK Government, including tax saving and incentive programmes.
As more and more jobs are created in the Tech industry, we must ensure our young people are being equipped with the potential to access these jobs. That’s why it’s so important we encourage more set-ups like Codebase, which are giving people the education they need to break into the Tech sector”.
