In a Commons debate I spoke on the state of our High streets, making particular reference to King Street in Stirling City Centre. This is the main throughfare to the Castle, yet appears barren to tourists.
In my meetings with City Centre businesses, several reasons for the downturn have come up . The Scottish Government's business rates system, online shopping, and messy streets putting off shoppers are all factors which need to be addressed.
