In the last week, I spoke in Westminster about the strengths of two of our local institutions; FES and the Forth Valley College.

It is my view that too many people think that University is the only option. This is not the case, as Forth Valley College proves so well. As I said in Westminster Hall, Forth Valley College has developed a network of connections with local business and is delivering the talent and capabilities that businesses need to flourish and prosper.
FES is based in Stirling, and is working in partnership with Forth Valley College to develop apprenticeships, investing in local talent. We need to see this progressive attitude in more businesses, something that I am keen to push for.
Going to University is a great opportunity. However, it isn’t the only option. In these two institutions alone, people of all backgrounds are offered the chance to develop skills in in-demand careers.
