Today, the heads of terms for the Stirling City Region Deal have been signed! The Deal will bring £90mil of funding to the Stirling area, and will provide funds for a Aquaculture Innovation Hub, an International Environment Centre, and the new National Tartan Museum!
This is very good for Stirling and the area as a whole. I welcome the excellent news about the Tartan Centre which will become a landmark in our city and the Institute of Aquaculture and the International Environmental Centre at University of Stirling. These are great days for the university and what is good for the university is inevitably good for Stirling’s economy.
I am particularly delighted that the MoD estate at Forthside will be a major part of the City Region Deal, and a big part of the future development of the city. I give a very warm welcome to each of the elements of the Deal and congratulate both governments on the agreement they have reached and announced today.
I welcome the focus on Callander and the study which I hope will lead quickly to an investment in a new bridge and approach roads to open up the possibilities for Callander as the premier outdoor activity resort in Scotland.
