Stirling’s MP is to co-sponsor a debate at Westminster about failures in the business banking sector.
Stephen Kerr claims many businesses have been “exploited” by banks since the financial crash a decade ago.
He wants small firms to be given protection against mistreatment.
Mr Kerr says he’s heard from a lot of local people on the subject.
“I have had a number of constituents get in touch with me and give me the most harrowing stories and experiences. It’s for people like this – who were playing by the rules, employing people and trying to do the right thing – that I’m standing up in the House of Commons.
“Small and medium-sized businesses are the driver of growth in our economy, they’re the engine. If every single small and medium-sized business in my constituency alone employed one more person because their business had scaled up, that would be a massive increase in employment in our local area.”
